Interstitial fluid can also be refers to as tissue fluid and it known as the solution that surrounds and bathes the tissue cells of multicellular animals. Interstitial fluids are the main components of extracellular fluid which also contain transcellular fluid and plasma. Also, interstitial fluid is found in space in between cells known as tissue space. They function by providing a means of delivering materials to the cells as and removal of metabolic waste.
Answer:
Form internal environment, serves as reservoir of oxygen, nutrients, water and electrolytes.
Explanation:
Function of interstitial fluid is to serve as internal medium which is present in spaces between cells of the tissues. It also serves as reservoir of oxygen and nutrients for the cells. Cells excrete their water metabolic products into the interstitial fluid. This fluid also stores water and electrolytes. Composition of interstitial fluid varies with the tissue type which in turn determine the proper functioning of the body cells.
