President Hoover's response to The Great Depression was an increase of taxes, including import taxes. He also called business leaders to the white house and begged them not to cut wages or lay off workers.
President Herbert Hoover opposed government involvement in the business world and he was a great supporter of private and public collaboration and cooperation. Because of that, he supported new government agencies to address specific problems, he supported labor rights in harmony with business owners and, encouraged price stability.
