Consider again the reaction for photosynthesis: 6CO2 + 6H2O → C6H12O6 + 6O2 What mass of water is required to react completely with 157.35 g CO2? (Molar mass of H2O = 18.02 g/mol; molar mass of CO2 = 44.01 g/mol) 157.35 g CO2 = g H2O

Respuesta :

the balanced reaction equation for photosynthesis is as follows;
6CO₂ + 6H₂O --> C₆H₁₂O₆ + 6O₂
stoichiometry of CO₂ to H₂O is 6:6. Equal number of moles of CO₂ and H₂O react.
Mass of CO₂ reacted = 157.35 g
the number of moles of CO₂ that reacted = 157.35 g / 44.01 g/mol = 3.58 mol
Therefore the number of H₂O moles that have reacted - 3.58 mol
then the mass of H₂O required - 3.58 mol x 18.02 g/mol = 64.43 g

64.43
