Some believe that the left brain is the more important hemisphere and needs to be developed as much as possible since it is in charge of math, science, and language- subjects that take up most of our learning time in school. The other side of the argument says that we need to develop the right brain skill of music and art more, and teach them more in school. Realizing that we use both sides of our brain for most activities, where do you stand on the right brain-left brain development debate? What subjects should be taught in grade schools? Are some subjects more important than others? Why?

Respuesta :

I believe both sides of the brain are just as important, we should be accessing all of our brain and working to expand our knowledge. I think school needs to focus more on what we actually need to know for our future rather than history so far back we won't ever need to reference it again aside from school.  We should focus more on world events today, things that are shaping us now, and what our generation can do to help contribute to the society, to help it not fall apart. Every aspect of the brain is important and we should access it all.
I think that both sides of the brain are important. Math, science, and language arts are all subjects that are important aspects in our daily lives and prepare us for our future. Music and art are also important because it exercises that creative part of our brains. This is also helpful in solving problems because of rather using a mathematical approach to a problem, you can use a creative way of looking at the issue which can sometimes be a better way of solving problems. With this being said I think that it’s important that schools teach regular curriculum (math science and language arts) along with art education(music, theatre, etc. )
I hope this helped! :-)
