Since I do not have the chart, I do not know what specific events you need to use. However, I can give you background information on both to help you construct it!

The Cold War consisted of the US's political battle with the Soviet Union for global power. The Cold War is essentially a battle of ideas, as the US was in favor of capitalism and the Soviet Union was in favor of communism. The War on Terrorism deals with the US dealing with threats from Middle Eastern terrorist groups. This has been on going since the attacks on the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001.

Here are some similarities between them:
1) Both wars include foreign opponents.
2) Both resulted in an increased amount of power for the federal government. During the Cold War, Congress was able to call in and question individuals associated with the Soviet Union or communism. During the War on Terror, the US government passed the Patriot Act. This allows the federal government to listen to phone conversations of American citizens.

Here are some differences:
1) Each war had a different goal. The goal of the Cold War was to stop the spread of communism on a global scale. The War on Terror is focused on liberating individuals who are under the control of terrorist organizations.
2) Time period: Cold War was from 1950-1992. War on Terror doesn't start until after September 11th and is technically still going on.
