E. coli is a species of bacteria. What advantage does E. coli have over sexually reproducing organisms? The bacteria’s offspring have differences in their DNA. The bacteria require less energy to make offspring. The bacteria can reproduce more slowly. The bacteria’s offspring have to fight for resources.

Respuesta :

E. coli can reproduce over and over without a mate. It also can easily create more offspring without using up massive amounts of energy that could be used for something else. Did this help?  I hope so!

Answer: The bacteria require less energy to make offspring.

Bacterial strain E.coli reproduce by asexual mode of reproduction. The bacterial cell simply undergoes cell division, to produce two equal daughter cells. The individual cell undergoes this process by elongation of the cell, followed by the formation of the exact replica of the genome which can be distributed to two daughter cells after cell division. This is the simplest mode of reproduction and does not involves the expense of energy. Hence, it is an advantage over the sexually reproducing organisms, which requires formation of gametes to produce offsprings.
