Authoritarian parents always want their children to comply with their demands. These sets of parents commonly say the word “because I said so” if their children try to question why they have to comply with a particular instruction.
Authoritarian parents don’t negotiate with their children rather they interested in obedience. One of the characteristics of authoritarian parents is that they don’t their children the liberty to engage in problem-solving challenges or any obstacles. Instead, authoritarian determines the rules and don’t consider their children’s opinion.
Authoritarian parents will punish their children instead of discipline; they are not interested in teaching their children how to make informed choices. Their interest is to make their children feel sorry for their mistakes.
Children that grow up under this type of parenting tend to take instructions and follow rules since they are not trained to think independently.
Also, children that grow up under an authoritarian parenting style tend to become liars because they mostly do so to avoid punishment.
Children of authoritarian parents may become aggressive, withdrawn and unhappy; they won’t have the ability to think about getting things done, rather their focus is always on the anger they have for their parent.
