 While wind erosion happens everywhere there is wind, the landscapes that aremost dramatically shaped by wind erosion are deserts and coastlines. In these areas, fewer plant roots anchor soil and sand in place to reduce the amount of wind erosion.

Wind erosion:

Wind erosion is high in dry areas as compared to moist areas because, in moist areas, the soil particles are heavier making it harder for transportation by the wind. This due to various factors such as atmospheric humidity, threshold velocity, and many more.  

Moisture increases cohesion between soil particles reducing soil displacement by the wind. Wind erosion increases the dryness of the soil, promotes loss of nutrients, therefore, compromising agriculture and food security. It also affects crop quality hence the harvest and causes weathering of rocks.
