You will write an advertisement to draw people to the west. Be creative in presenting either a print ad or a song to persuade people to move west for new opportunities. Pictures and different font/colors may be used to draw attention to your ad.

There are some requirements for what you need to include in your ad. You must be truthful (i.e. don’t promise it will be easy or that they are guaranteed to become rich)! Use information from the lesson to help you. There are some student samples below to give you an idea of what will earn a top grade.

Travel West
Do you want to be filthy rich with gold? Do you want land to have shelter for your family and farms for cheap?  If so, bring supplies such as water, food, medical supplies, and money with you while you ride a wagon west! You'll go down the Santa Fe and Oregon Trail! Despite risking your life, once you're there you'll have safety and happiness all around you. While you're there, you'll be sure to meet Americans, Asians, Europeans, Africans and even Mexicans. With harsh whether, theft and no food, doctors or schools, it's all worth it. So come on, go west!
