In a criminal trial, the prosecutor bears the burden of proof.  They must prove that the defendant is guilty of the crime with which they are accused.  In order to prove guilt, the prosecutor must use evidence and present their case to the jury.  The prosecutor must prove guilt "beyond a reasonable doubt."
