What motivates King Uther to resume the war against the Duke of Tintagel, is his obession with Lady Igraine, wife of one of his servants, Gorlois, the Duke of Tintagel, due to the desire of King Uther to have an heir.
One day the King announced a great feast in the castle and invited all the nobles of the kingdom. During the festivities, the King became obsessed with Lady Igraine. The furious Duke returned to his castle without informing. King Uther demanded that they return to his castle, but his call was rejected. Furious the King declared a war against Gorlois. But, King Uther did not care about the battle. Desperate for Lady Igraine, he sought out Merlin and implored him to help him fulfill his wish. Merlin was willing to help the desperate King and use his magic to transform the king s appearance equal to that of the Duke. That same night, King Uther s troops attacked Gorlois and the King entered the castle of Tintagel and spent the night with Igraine. The moon of that same night saw the conception of Arthur.
