Streams of glowing gas that shoot out from the sun is called Prominence. It is a loop of incandescent, cool gas that extends way above the sun's edge can be viewed from Earth. These streams usually follow the magnetic field lines that are curved from an area of on magnetic polarity to an area of the opposite magnetic polarity. These streams can last for hour or even weeks.
