How did Byzantine culture influence Europe?

Intellectually and religiously

Intellectually the Byzantine Empire provide Europe with the literature and art of the Greek and Roman Empires. They were able to translate the works for Italian intellects who began the Renaissance.

Religiously many Eastern European countries such as Bulgaria, Russia, Greece, and Serbia continued the Orthodox religion practiced in the Byzantine Empire.

The Byzantine Empire incorporated many Greek ideas and culture.  The Byzantine Empire contributed the Hagia Sophia to European culture.
