[tex]1\dfrac{2}{3}-1\dfrac{1}{4}=1\dfrac{2\cdot4}{3\cdot4}-1\dfrac{1\cdot3}{4\cdot3}=1\dfrac{8}{12}-1\dfrac{3}{12}=\dfrac{8-3}{12}=\boxed{\frac{5}{12}}[/tex]
The distance is 5/12 because when i changed the denominator into 12 and multiplied the top by 3 and 4 then subtracted and got 5/12
