  Elpenor is a member of Odysseus´s crew, the youngest of them. The night before departing of Circe´s island he got drunk and fall asleep on the roof of her palace. When he got up the next day hearing the call of Odysseus to embark. Elpenor fell off the roof and dies.

  Odysseus did not notice Elpenor´s death until he reached the underworld and saw him in there. Elpenor asked him to give him a proper burial and after leaving the Hades they go back to the Aeaea where the crew gave him the funeral he requested.
