regional subdivision.
-- 8 of them use 'municipalities' as regional subdivisions.
-- Ontario is also subdivided into 'metropolitan municipalities',
'territorial districts', 'district municipalities', and 'regional
municipalities'.
-- In the province of Alberta, 'county' was changed to 'municipal
district' in the mid-1990s, but the municipal districts were allowed
to keep calling themselves 'county' in their official names.
(I don't understand this one either.)
