The goal of the (SCLC) Southern Christian Leadership
Conference is to redeem ‘the soul of America’ via a non-violent resistance. The
SCLC got established in the year 1957 to coordinate the actions of local protest
groups in the South. It was led by Martin Luther King, Jr. They drew on the
power of independent black churches to make their activities possible. They’re
committed to nonviolence movements to reach economic, social, and political justice
and erase hate crimes, racial profiling, and police brutality.
