The Cairo Conference of 1994 was a meeting of the United Nations to discuss the issue of overpopulation.
Otherwise known as the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD), the name essentially gives the explanation away. Other than just discussing overpopulation, they also talked about scholarships and preservation for women, birth control and family devising, and immigration. The central affair of the conference was overpopulation and abortion. While the current world population at that time was about 5.5 billion, they began concerned about the over-crowding and boost in abortion.
