Find the missing leg of a right triangle with one leg = 4 inches and the hypotenuse = 5 inches. h 3
a=4, b= ? , c = 5, so 42 + b2 = 52 and 16 + b2 = 25

ANSWER: Subtract 16 from both sides, 25-16=9, so b2 = 9,, then the square root of 9 = b, and 3 = b.
can you please explain how they got this answer??

Respuesta :

Subtract 16 from both sides then b2=9 then find the square root which is 3=b
the way you would get the answer is square the hypotenuse and the one leg you know to get the 25 and 16. then subtract 16 from both sides to get 9. because you squared the answers first you have to square root the answers after to get 3. hope this helped.
