Applied science is using your scientific knowledge and applying it to practical situations. For e.g. experiments, technology, inventions etc.

if you don't get that, think about it like PE. It's like using the sport knowledge (i.e. components of fitness and training, health, nutrition etc) and applying it in practical situations. For e.g. playing sports like Football, Cricket, Rugby etc

Applied science is a discipline of science which applies existing scientific knowledge to develop more practical results. Basic science or pure science develop information to predict and explain phenomena, and applied science applies science to the real world. For example, the knowledge from biology is applied in medicine trough medical microbiology and clinical virology. Applied science can even mix knowledge from different sciences, like genetic epidemiology which applies both biological and statistical methods.
