The answer is letter A. General McClellan was unsuccessful in maintaining the trust and faith of President Abraham Lincoln. He was insubordinate to his Commander-in-Chief because he failed to exercise strict obedience and respect to him (President Lincoln) and privately said negative things about the President. He was primarily removed from command in November after failing to decisively and quickly pursue Lee's Army following the strategically inconclusive but strategic Union victory at the Battle of Antielam and never received another field command from the President.
