So imagery is basically figurative or descriptive speech.
I learned it this way: If you can imagine the imagery being used, then it’s been used correctly. There are even different types of imagery: visual, auditory, olfactory, gustatory, tactile, kinesthetic and organic.
Imagery’s job in poetry is to simply describe something, giving detailed descriptions of what things are like.

You could go define imagery in the dictionary... but in my opinion, a definition only scratches the surface when it comes to imagery.
