If I had to answer, I'd say he was surprised.
Detail one: He said "Look how easy it was" in the beginning of is sentence, that usually would indicate that he would've expected it to be harder.
Detail two: He used her full name in the sentence. "Look how easy it was for Amy Wheeler". That could show that he's surprised she's so confident, or maybe surprised that she even asked.
