Pennsylvania was a colony known as the best
poor Man’s country in the entire world. The high standards of living in rural Pennsylvania
and the neighboring middle colonies resulted in the doubling of consumption of
imported goods from England. The least wealthy 18th New Englanders
lived a more comfortable life.
