How do I work this out? (Picture is included) q3

3.  2+2=4, 2+4=6, 6+4=10, 10+6=16, 16+10=26, 26+16=42

the answer is 2, 2, 4, 6, 10, 16, 26, 42

I think it is 
2,2,4,6,10,12,14,16 
but I am not sure so take the another answer:)
