Gary spent $48 on a watch. He spent 1/3 of the remainder on a pen. If he still had 1/2 of his money left , how much money did he have at first?

Gary had $191.74 to start with.  He spent $48 on the watch and $47.87 on the pen.  That leaves him with $95.87 left.  $95.87 is 1/2 of $191.74.
