The food chain or food web describes the energy flow from one tropic level to another tropic level where the producers are plants and consumers vary in different ecosystems.

The number of organism at a particular tropic level in an ecosystem is determined by the food chain and energy is lost in moving from one tropic level to another.

If an organism is removed the organism who are consumers of the removed organism will decrease due to lack of food or starvation and the food source of the removed organism will increase as it will no longer consume it. This way the balance of the food chain or food web in the environment is disturbed.

Answer:

Removing an organism from a food chain causes the populations of the other organisms in the food chain to change as well. They will increase or decrease depending on the location of the organism in the food chain.
