Andrew Jackson was opposed to it and when South Carolina flirted with secession in the Nullification Crisis he got Congress to pass a force bill authorizing him to use military force to put down a rebellion. Jackson, while staunchly pro-slavery, was an arch-nationalist who had spent much of his career protecting and expanding the US. He wasn't going to tolerate anyone trying to take themselves out of the US.
Hope this helps:D
Have a great rest of a brainly day!
