I don't have a textbook that has this in it but I know several things about Benjamin Franklin. First he was one of the key revolutionaries of the American Revolution. Also, I believe he became an ambassador of the US in Great Britain after the revolutionary war. Also, he was a scientist who experimented with electricity and was able to have electricity conducted to a Leyden jar during a thunderstorm via a kite with a hemp string. He also invented bifocals. Also, he invented the Franklin stove. I believe that because he was such a well rounded man who was heavily involved in progressive politics as well as in scientific inventions this made him an example of an Enlightenment man. Also, he only had a grade 2 education so was mostly self taught.
