The seasons in Australia are the "opposite" of what happens in North America
So from June to August, when North America experiences summer, Australia experiences winter.
It experiences summer in December to February.
The change is graduate: so there are no such seasons around the equator at all.

If the season in North America is experiencing summer, Australia is the opposite so it would be the middle of the winter there. The seasons are caused by the tilt of Earth’s axis. One hemisphere needs to be closer so summer can be a season in a continent.
