A gas cylinder contains 2.0 mol of gas X and 6.0 mol of gas Y at a total pressure of 2.1 atm. What is the partial pressure of gas Y? Use mc017-1.jpg. 0.50 atm 1.6 atm 2.1 atm 2.8 atm

Respuesta :

B) 1.6 ATM is the answer hope this helps anyone who needs this answer.

The partial pressure  of  gas  Y  is  1.6 atm

   calculation

  • Total  pressure = partial pressure of gas y + partial pressure  of gas X
  • partial  pressure of gas Y =  moles of gas Y/total moles x total mole

moles of of gas y= 6.0 moles

     total  moles  = 6.0 + 2.0  =  8 moles

     total  pressure = 2.1 atm

  • partial  pressure  of gas y is therefore
  • =  6.0  mole /8.0 mole  x 2.1  atm= 1.6   atm
