The North Pole of a magnet points toward the geographic North Pole, yet like poles repel. Explain this seeming discrepancy

Respuesta :

This is because the geological north pole of the earth is actually the south pole of our magnetic field.  This surprises many people but it is called the "magnetic north" because the north pole of a magnet points toward it, not because it's a "north" magnetic field.  It is a confusing and rather bad name.
