Not a great deal.  We’ll use 1960 as a baseline.  Between 1960 and 1963, one Amendment was ratified.  The 23rd Amendment made it possible for the citizens of the District of Columbia (Washington DC) to vote in Presidential elections.

Between 1963 and 1979 (why 1979?), 4 Amendments were ratified.

The 24th Amendment barred Poll Taxes

The 25th Amendment dealt with Presidential Disability and Succession

The 26th set the Voting Age to 18.

That’s it.  All the changes to the US Constitution between the years 1960, 1963 and 1979.  Now maybe you can elaborate why those years are significant?

Nigeria became an independent nation in the year 1960. That was after many years of colonial rule. In the year 1963, Nigeria became a republic. The similarities between the 1960 and the 1963 constitution includes:

  • both the 1960 constitution and the 1963 constitution maintained a parliamentary system of Government
  • Both constitutions gave the federal government the right to declare a state of emergency in the newly independent nation.
  • Both constitutional systems allowed for a federal system of government.
