The Egypt's economic growth rate rose.
Mubarak during his presidency was given economic credit and successfully increased the investment to Egypt and the economic rate at the national level grew but unfortunately that did not help those who were the poorest because even after that some 40% of the people lived on maximum 2 dollars a day. Also the rise in cost of basic goods also hurt the Egyptian people.

Under the presidency of Hosni Mubarak, Egypt originally thrived. Its economic growth rate rose sharply at first, and then it tapered off as time passed. The infant mortality rate dropped, immunizations rose, and this relieved pressure on the work force. His inability to control poverty rates and appease Islamists long-term, however, gave the Muslim Brotherhood the ability to take over in the beginning of this decade.
