Dr. jamison caused rats to stop breathing when he lesioned their medulla. The medulla help rats breath. Rats would not survive without a medulla because as said before it regulates breathing and it also helps regulate heart pressure. If your heart pressure is too high the rats may suffer a stroke or heart failure. Lesioning the rats medulla will most likely kill them.
