Except for the egg and sperm, all normal human body cells contain 46 chromosomes.
Explanation;
All somatic cells or the body cells contains 46 chromosomes or diploid number of chromosomes (two sets of each chromosomes) this is due to the process of mitosis which involves division of a cell to yeild two diploid daughter cells similar to the parents.
However, the gamete cells (eggs and the sperms) are haploid; that is they have 23 chromosomes; this is caused by the process of meiosis which results into daughter cells that are haploid (have half the number of chromosomes as the parent cell)
