Mediterranean climate is characterized by dry, warm to hot summers and rainy winters. It gets its name from the Mediterranean Sea where this climate is common place, but other regions of the world also get this type of climate such as the United States' California, areas in Western and Central Asia, Western Australia as well as Southern Australia. You'll usually find this type of climate on the western coasts of the continents.
