There is definitely a process for the eyes of the trichromatic theory. One of the receptors is sensitive about the color green, the second one is sensitive to the color blue, and the last one is sensitive about the color red. The combination of all three, blue, red, and green, will give the eyes color that we perceive in daily lives. Because of these three receptors, we are able to distinguish a lot of different colors. As much as seven million different colors are distinguished by these receptors.

 

These photoreceptors all have different sensitivity levels. The read receptor is the very least sensitive one, meanwhile, the blue receptor is the most sensitive one. The ability to perceive a color needs interaction with at least two of the photoreceptors. If these three colors are combined, we can basically form any kind of color in the spectrum.  

 

After 70 years of the proposal for trichromatic theory, the identification of the three receptors did not occur. Researchers also found that cone pigments have different levels of absorption.
