From the first equation we get:
$x=2y-2$
Use the value of x in the second equation like this:
$y=\frac{1}{2}(2y-2)+1$
Solving the above equation for y we get:
$y=y$
The above equation is alway satisfied. Then the system has an infinite set 
of solutions. Any number is a solution to the system.
