1. Early civilization tend to settle across alongsides the river banks or near the lake,  or the coast line in order to be close to the source of water. Water is regarded as the most essential element that would aid civilization in term of fulfilling basic needs and helping us in our day to day activities.

2. For example, water source provide the opportuity to build a superiror irrigation system that would enchance the overall productivity in society's  agricultural sector. On top of that, people could also use the water source as a mean of transportation that could be used both to distribute the products or move from one place to another.

3. One specific examples would be the Iindus valley civilization.
This civilization was regarded as the oldest modern civilization in the world and it established its superiority compared to other tribes/groups due to their agricultural development that derived from ther civilization's placement near the indus river.
