The Soviet Union bore the majority of the brunt in battling Hitler in the earlier years of World War II. They fought alone against over two hundred different German divisions. Both the US and England were working to build up their forces and could not help much beyond offering help in the future and to send supplies. It resulted in a rift that never fully healed.
