The plane that divides the body into anterior and posterior portions is known as the Frontal or coronal plane. Frontal or coronal plane is a vertical plane that runs perpendicular to the sagittal plane dividing the body into two parts the front (anterior) and the back (posterior). The Frontal/coronal plane extends though the body axis that is along the body’s length. When the subject is standing in anatomical position, the frontal plane extends in a vertical direction.
