: I would think that this would have to be true, being that a connection of this type could be very broadly interpreted.
I would say each literary period is more of a reflection of the time in which they occur, influenced primarily by the events of that time. There always are some influences that remain from the previous periods, and newly developing styles are most often in reponse to the writing styles of previous eras. There has to be a foundation to build upon.
