Women were able to be used in a multitude of ways during WWI and were
presented with opportunities to do jobs never offered to a woman. Nursing
jobs, telephone operating jobs, and even clerical jobs opened up to
women. Many women jumped at this opportunity and took the jobs. The
Red Cross was an organization that had many women involved in it during
WWI. But sadly, after the war was finished, women were asked to leave
the jobs and return home so that the men could take back their jobs.
