The best representation of an internal battle for Pi in "The Life of Pi". An internal conflict or Internal battle are obstacles that happens mentally or in the mind of the individual. Pi making a raft, taming Richard Parker, and even eating meat are all physical obstacles that he would need to go over which makes these external battles or external conflicts. Giving up religion, based on process of elimination and the definition of internal conflicts, represents an internal battle for Pi.
