According to researchers in China and at the Brookhaven National Laboratory, the oldest playable musical instruments discovered to date were found at an excavation site in Jiahu, located in Henan province in China. These specific instruments, dating from the neolithic period, consisted of six bone flutes which were capable of expressing multiple notes and, being intact, could still be played today.
