The Bill of Rights limited government's role and gave the individual certain rights that neither the government nor majority could infringe on.  The Constitution was originally written without the Bill of Rights and many Founding Fathers would not sign it since they feared that the federal government would be too powerful. It is important because it is a guarantee that the United States Government, and later the States, would not infringe on rights that are personal to every human being in this nation, and those reserved to the States. It was written in 1789 when most of the delegates to the Constitutional convention felt it was necessary to articulate rights they believed to be inherent in the rights of mankind. Therefore, they chose to embody those rights into the Constitution by amending it to add the first 10 amendments. Thereafter, the constitution was amended at various other times.

Hope I helped.....
The Bill of Rights ensured that the rights and freedoms of the minorities and women were protected. Before the Bill of Rights, white males of a certain age held most of the power and privileges in a society such as voting, however once the Bill of Rights was passed, it gave african americans and women the right to vote and the basic freedoms found in the First Amendment. It also establishes Due Process of Law and Rights in a criminal trial. If the Bill of Rights did not exist, men would have more jobs, only men would be able to vote, and slavery may still exist.

If you would like an idea of how the Bill of Rights helps society or how it protects our rights, there is a video on Youtube that may help, it is called “What’s Right with America”
