Confirmation bias

Confirmation bias refers to the phenomenon where individuals tend to perceive or interpret information in a way that matches their pre-existing framework of thoughts and beliefs. By perceiving information in a way that "matches with" preexisting beliefs, the new information gets "confirmed". An example of confirmation bias is remembering only the positive attributes about your favorite politician during an election campaign and disregarding the negative attributes.
