The answer to the problem is 13/72

we are given

[tex] \frac{5}{9}-\frac{3}{8} [/tex]

step-1: Firstly , we will find common denominator

we can see that denominators are 9 and 8

so, we will find LCM of 9 and 8

LCM(9,8)=72

step-2: now, we will make each denominators =72

so, in order to make denominator =72 , we will multiply by 8 in top and bottom of first term

and we multiply by 9 in top and bottom of second term

we get

[tex] \frac{5*8}{9*8}-\frac{3*9}{8*9} [/tex]

[tex] \frac{40}{72}-\frac{27}{72} [/tex]

step-3: We can see that both denominators are same

so, we can combine numerators by having common denominators

[tex] =\frac{40-27}{72} [/tex]

[tex] =\frac{13}{72} [/tex]

so, we get

[tex] \frac{5}{9}-\frac{3}{8}=\frac{13}{72} [/tex]..............Answer
