What approach to development did the Brundtland commission propose

Brundtland commission was formed with the intention of uniting many countries together in order to achieve sustainable development for all these countries with help and support of each other. This commission was initially known by the name of world commission for the environment and development. The first general secretary of this commission was Gro Harlem Brundtland.

He was the former Prime minister of Norway and had strong background in science and public health. During that period of time, UN general assembly realized that there was a heavy collapse of the environment as well as natural resources. Its aim was to rally the countries to work and achieve their goal of sustainable development together and it was then the United Nations decided to establish this commission. Bundertland commission was dissolved in year 1987 post releasing the Bundertland report.
